Symptoms And Symptoms Of Antipsychotic Medication

Because schizophrenia manifests itself as a blend of a thought disorder, a mood disorder, and an anxiety disorder, a mixture of antipsychotic, antidepressant, and antianxiety medication is used to treat it. One main type of antipsychotic medication is traditional, such as chlorpromazine, haloperidol, and fluphenazine. These medications have been present since the 1950 s, and they are most effective for treating positive symptoms because they block the dopamine receptors. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that aids in regulating mood and behavior. Schizophrenia is believed to be caused by an excess of dopamine related activity in the brain. By blocking the receptors, the disorder is controlled. Chlorpromazine and other traditional†¦show more content†¦The other category of medication is new generation medicine. These are also known as atypical antipsychotics, and they are different from traditional (typical) medications because of the less severe side effects that they have whe n it comes to movement. Examples of atypical antipsychotics are closapine, pisperidone, and quetiapine. The medications work much like traditional medications; they regulate dopamine and serotonin, another neurotransmitter that controls memory and mood functions. The antipsychotics may cause metabolic syndrome, which is marked by an increased risk of weight gain, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol. Milder effects include low blood pressure, constipation, and increased heart rate and salivation. More severe responses can also develop, such as decreased white blood cells, swollen heart muscles, seizures, extremely low blood pressure, and involuntary urination. With prolonged use, patients may also acquire extrapyramidal effects or tardive dyskinesia, both of which affect muscular control. Although the exact cause of schizophrenia has not yet been discovered, there have been observed trends in those who have it. A child whose parent or sibling has schizophrenia has a 10% chance of developing schizophrenia, while a person whose second-degree relative (aunt, uncle, cousin, etc.) has schizophrenia has a lower chance. Womens Suffrage Movement Essay - 1559 Words

From the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 to Betty Friedman and her bestselling book, The Feminine Mystique, the women’s suffrage movement advocated for equality between men and women. Throughout the years, there were many women that fought for the rights they have today. Susan B. Anthony along with a colleague formed the National Woman Suffrage Association that served to gain women the right to vote. In 1920, women were granted the right to vote by the 19th amendment of the constitution. At this point, women did not want to be the typical housewife men wanted them to be which created conflict. Women were familiar being domestic; cooking, cleaning and taking care of children. Courtship slowly but surely started to disintegrate by the late nineteenth, early twentieth centuries. Dating emerged by men want ing to test the waters with various women until they found true love. In the years leading up to the feminist movement, men initiated the contact with women. Men would woo young women by their charm and with the permission of her parents, spend time together. As time progressed, dating became more common and a way of really getting to know someone. With the emergence of the twenty-first century, dating has taken an entirely new form with many stages. The first stage of dating is of course the initial â€Å"liking of someone because they are attractive† stage. This stage then leads to the talking stage. As†¦. says, â€Å"talking† is a time in which two people may casually get to know each other through texting, talking on the phone and hanging out casually, possibly while going on dates. Once women began working at the beginning of the twentieth century due to the war, gender roles drastically changed within households. Leonardo de Pisa Free Essays

Leonardo of Pisa or Fibonacci and the Issue of Moneylenders NFaly Konate Texas AM University – Central Texas FIN 590 Dr. Mary Kelly Summer 2012 Northern Italy in the early thirteen century was a land subdivided into multiple feuding city-states. Among the many remnants of defunct Roman Empire was a numerical system (I, ii, iii, iv†¦) singularly ill suited to complex mathematical calculation, let alone the needs of commerce. We will write a custom essay sample on Leonardo de Pisa or any similar topic only for you Order Now Nowhere was this more of a problem than in Pisa, where merchants also had to contend with seven different forms of coinage in circulation. By comparison, economical life in the Eastern world was far more advanced, just as it had been in the time of Charlemagne. To discover modern finance, Europe needed to import it. In this, a young mathematician called Leonardo of Pisa, or Fibonacci played a crucial role. Leonardo Fibonacci also known as Leonardo Pisano, Leonardo of Pisa,  was the greatest European mathematician of the middle ages. He was born in Pisa in Italy circa 1170 and died sometime after 1240. Leonardo’s father, Gugliemo, was a customs official and engaged in commerce representing Pisa at Bougie on the north coast of Africa. Young Leonardo consequently received a Moorish education as well as the traditional European education and was introduced to Hindu-Arabic numbers. Later on, he traveled about the Mediterranean visiting Egypt, Syria, Greece, Sicily and Provence, meeting with scholars and becoming acquainted with the various arithmetical systems used by the merchants. In his book, the Liber abaci, which fills 459 printed pages, he explained the most perfect methods of calculating with whole numbers and with fractions, practice, extraction of the square and cube roots, proportion, chain rule, finding of proportional parts, averages, progressions, even compound interest, just as in the completest mercantile arithmetic of later days. They teach further the solution of problems leading to equations of the first and second degree, to determinate and indeterminate equations, not by single and double position only, but by real algebra, proved by means of geometric onstructions, and including the use of letters as symbols for known numbers, the unknown quantity being called res and its square census. The book is also largely responsible for introducing Arabic numerals to Europe. Leonardo of Pisa is also considered a Key Player in the Finance because of his introduction of Hindu-Arabic numerals. Finally, he not only gave Europe the decimal system, which ma kes all kinds of calculation far easier than with Roman numerals, he also showed how it could be applied to commercial bookkeeping, to currency conversions and crucially, to the calculation of interest. Business of a Business is to be Sustainable Business

Question a) As a client/consumer which companies would you boycott in your own country because they have not acted ethically and/or sustainably? Reflect on your reasons for your decision to boycott them. Alternatively are there any companies you would choose over their competitors because they have behaved ethically and sustainably? Reflect on why you would support these companies. b) What I value in a careerand Choose two or three of the values ? c) Mackey writes of business leadership needing to not only maximise profits for shareholders but also needing to strive for positive impacts on their stakeholders in applying the concept of conscious capitalism. Reflect on how you might operate ethically in your future profession through using this conscious capitalism approach. Answer a) Reputation/boycott sustainability risks Sustainability is one of the key factors that would contribute towards the successful operational activities. In this process, the process related to the operational activities are planned and implemented in the right manner. However, there are few companies that fail to follow the process that are associated with the ethical business practices. Such a factor impacts the business performance and goodwill. Both the factors are necessary for earning customers and sustaining the tough competition that is required to remain ahead of the competitors. It is quite important to adopt and implement balanced integration that will help in social or environmental factors. The steps that are adopted by the company depend upon the expectations or objectives that have been set forth by the organization (Joiner, and Stephen, 2007). In case, the company fails to follow the process or the promise that was made to the clients, stakeholders, and the staffs of the company then it will affect its credibility. Besides this, strategic planning and its implementation are necessary for implementing steps for the economic development and sustaining the tough competition that exists in the industry. However there are few companies that choose to compromise with the quality of the products and services that have been promised to be rendered to the clients. Some of the cars or vehicles that were sold by Toyota were of sub-standards and didnt meet the expectations of the clients. In this process, the company had adopted unethical or improper method for the production of the goods and services. This had in fact impacted the sales and promotional activities of the products that were manufactured by the company (Legault, 2010). It is quite important to plan and implement an effective strategy for ethical production activities. The ethical requirements for the company differ and depend upon the production activities that are followed by the organization. In this case, it is essential to plan the strategic production activities as this will help in increasing the operational activities. In this process, it is essential to draft and implement steps through which the trust with the clients and the stakeholders of the company. The quality of the services has to surpass the expectations of the clients and this is one of the reasons, many companies follow an effective strategy for improving the quality of services that is being rendered to the clients. In the sustainable plan, the expectations of the company have to be analysed and the same has to be meet in the best possible manner. Also, the preferences of the clients, staffs, and others who are associated with the company have to be taken into consideration. Th is will help in improving the quality of the production activities (Logsdon and Young, 2005). However the products of many companies have been boycotted by the clients for a simple fact that the quality didnt meet the expectations of the clients. This is one of the reasons; the company need to set right the expectations with the suppliers, buyers, and others in an accurate manner. It is equally important to cater the same as it was promised by the management of the company. In the past, companies didnt choose to share the required information with the buyers, which was considered to be ethical wrong. This is one of the reasons, the sales for the products was considerably low. Sustainability policy includes planning for the production activities and adopting the right process for carrying out the operational activities. It also includes sharing the accurate information with the clients, as this is considered to be one of the most important factors that would contribute towards the successful business operational activities. In case any of the information is missed out then it will affect the production and goodwill of the company (Mackey, 2009). b) What I value in career Career selection is one of the most important and challenging tasks. I believe that one needs to be passionate about his career and the professional that would help in the future growth. There are different professions like accounting, banking, lawyers, doctors, and researchers. Being passionate about ones own career will help the individual in selecting the best option and planning the growth in live that is considered to be quite essential. Besides being passionate about the career, it is also important to have necessary information that is required for selecting the best option. In this case, students are expected to gather the required and necessary information that will be helpful in planning for the future course. The required information about the subjects and topics or the courses can be gathered from different reliable sources that includes internet. However, it is necessary to ensure that the details are evaluated and implemented in the right manner. In other words, it is n ecessary to choose reliable details related to the course completion. This will help in implementing the pans that is considered to be essential for the development or pursing the course. Apart from this, it is necessary to select the best college or university from where the course can be completed by the individual. This is one of the most essential factors that have to be considered at the time of planning. Also, the organization that needs to be joined after the completion of the course can be shortlisted. This will help in improving the confidence that is related to the career. Again the challenges that are related to the completion of the course can be consulted, as this will help in improving the plan in the best possible manner (McDonough et al., 2002). c) Conscious Capitalism This is one of the most important concepts that can positively impact the performance of the business for the organization. In this process, the management of the company adopt effective strategies to exchange ideas, trading law, law, and other factors that are considered to be important for the performance of the business. Such factors are considered to be quite healthy for the performance of the organisation as it will help in handling the changing or challenging economic condition. Managers or the leaders of the company are entrusted with different responsibilities that include building trust with the clients and stakeholders. In this process the necessary steps are taken for creating values which is considered to be one of the most important factors for the success of the business. However, I believe that the concept is quite complex and it needs proper understanding about the topic. Unless this is not done, it is not possible for the managers to create a long term relationship w ith the stakeholders of the company. Stakeholders of the company are investors, clients, staffs, and suppliers. These groups of individuals are interested in the performance of the company and would prefer to be aware of the objectives of the organization. In this case, it is necessary to analyse the challenges that can impact the relationship with the clients or the stakeholders. It needs to be worked upon, as this will assist the company in planning the future development. Besides this, the managers have to adopt and implement effective strategies through which right and accurate information can be shared with the clients and the stakeholders of the company. This is one of the most important factors that will help in the business development and introducing the right steps to build confidence (McGuire et al., 2009). “Baglady” Is a British Short Story Written by A. S. Byatt Essay Example

â€Å"Baglady† Is a British Short Story Written by A. S. Byatt Paper â€Å"Baglady† is a British short story written by A. S. Byatt, it was published in the collection â€Å"Elementals† in 1998. The main character in this story is Daphne Gulver- Robins. Daphne accompanies her husband on a business trip to the Far East. The main reason she is on the trip, is for her husband to be able to impress his boss, by showing his family side. Daphne would have preferred staying home taking care of the animals on the farm, because she knows that her and the other wives have nothing in common:† Most of the other wives are elegant, with silk suits and silky legs and exquisitely cut hair† (9:16) this quote indicates that the other women are sophisticated to superficial. In their social group the exterior means everything. Daphne is aware of the shallow and superficial environment she is stepping in to. Even though Daphne is not exited about the trip she still makes an effort to try and impress the other wives by loosing weight for this specific trip:† She has tried to make herself attractive for this jaunt and has lost ten pounds and had her hands manicured† (9:22) Daphne is very insecure and feels inferior compared to the other women, her weight loss is a desperate attempt to fit in, but she ends up being an outsider. Byatt specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer They women entertain themselves by going to The Good Fortune mall:† The Good Fortune shopping mall resembles an army of barracks or a prison block,†¦Ã¢â‚¬Å"(10: 26) The mall represents the rich part of the society and all the chaos around. This mall is secured well so that the poor, thieves and unwelcome guest can’t get in. While in the mall the other women leaves Daphne behind and she ends up wandering around the mall by herself. Daphne explores the mall but quickly gets confused because everything seems to be chaotic and out of place. Daphne’s frustration begins when she realizes that her camera is missing, which I would interpret as point off of no return. She goes to the bathroom to restore her make up, and discovers that her face looks like a mess, which is another signs of her dissolving and breaking down, all of this leads to her being late for the meeting with the driver and the other women. In her panic and desperation to find an EXIT and get out of the mall her heel breaks off one of her shoes and she takes her shoes off, and but them in her bag. She notices that her credit cards and her purse have disappeared as well. She no longer has any identification and all of her belongings are missing in other words her identity is absent. She cries for help, and a policeman walks over to her: â€Å"Help me said Daphne I’m an English lady, I have been robbed, I must go home† in this quote it becomes clear that Daphne expects the police man to help her just because she is rich and British, because she lacks identification, the police man refuses to help her, which tells us that in the oriental society you have to be part of the rich upper class in order for help or assistance. The main theme in Baglady is identity. Throughout the entire story Daphne is in the state of flux. She loses her identity in a foreign country which leads to her being disoriented, and even before they arrive she feels out of her comfort zone, because of her dissimilar character. The loss of her materialistic possessions leads to her identity loss which shows that Daphne comes from a capitalistic society where materialistic things define the individual. And by losing her belonging she goes from being and middle/upper class British lady, to a worthless Baglady. Another theme could be the clash between the western and oriental world. The characteristics of this story being postmodern are very obvious. The themes which are writing above clarifies that the text it postmodern and the fact that the story has an open ending is also an element in postmodern writing.

Free Essays on A Reflection Of The Gospel Of St. Mathew

A Reflection of the Gospel of St. Mathew: â€Å"Jesus and the Pharisees: Friends and/or Enemies!† The Gospel According to Mathew was the first of the four gospels in the New Testament. It reflects both the view that it was the first to be written, a view that goes back to the late second century A.D., and the esteem in which it was held by the church; no other was so frequently quoted in the literature of earliest Christianity. The Gospel According to Mathew presents the story of Jesus, the demands of Christian discipleship, and the breaking-in of the new and final age through the ministry but particularly through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Readers learn of actions that are approved of and actions that are frowned upon. One of those actions is the love of enemies, family, and friends. The first part of the gospel starts out with a genealogy of Jesus starting with Abraham, the father of Israel. Yet at the beginning of that genealogy Jesus is designated as â€Å" the son of David, the son of Abraham†. I interpreted the meaning of this first section two different ways. First I interpreted it to mean that Mathew was trying to point out that Jesus is the son of Abraham as well as David. This strengthens the Son of God because it does not prevent Jesus from being Son of David, Son of Abraham through the ancestry of Joseph since Joseph accepted Jesus as his own. Annotated Bibliography Example The authors argue that since human interactions are inimitable and cannot be reproduced in a different organizational context without losing their innate characteristics, organizations can retain knowledge within the organization and continue to use it as a strategic asset to create competitive advantage. This article challenges the assumption of a universal set of knowledge management practices by arguing for a contingency-based approach to knowledge management. The article describes the organizational context for knowledge management along the dimensions of process and content orientation on the one hand and focused and broad domains on the other. Based on the possible combinations, four different approaches are identified, i.e. internalization, externalization, combination and socialization. Based on where the particular organizational division is situated in the contingency grid, managers should adopt the associated approach to promote knowledge creation and management among employees. Empirical research validates much of the contingency model with the exception of the externalization approach as it did not contribute to the expected positive impact. This report explains how managers may benefit from implementing knowledge management practices in the organization. The report highlights several advantages of knowledge management including the promotion of creativity, faster decision making and competitive responses in the market. The report encourages managers to adopt knowledge management practices by discussing examples of real organizations where knowledge management has been implemented and has yielded beneficial results. Knowledge management can be practiced by creating appropriate structures and systems to create and disseminate knowledge. The report also states that managers should constantly evaluate the effectiveness of their knowledge management systems by establishing specific criteria to measure the

Topic selection and sources - Coursework Example Hate crime is an important topic in criminal justice because it can cause numerous kinds of crimes, since it can lead to different forms of violence and discrimination against target individuals/groups/organizations (Hall, 2005, p.4). The concept to be examined is â€Å"profiling† which is not based in inaccurate and purely negative stereotypes about race, ethnicities, gender, religion, and/or age, but based on â€Å"observable conditions, behaviors, and activities† (Maxfield & Babbie, 2011, p.35). The research can focus on how to avoid discriminatory profiling that is rooted on personal biases or hate against others and how law enforcers should be trained to adapt a scientific approach to profiling. Profiling is an important topic in criminal justice because it can be used to help catch criminals or to prevent crimes. However, profiling guidelines and boundaries are essential to its proper theorization and practice. The research can focus on the concept of â€Å"juvenile delinquency recidivism,† particularly understanding how imprisoning juveniles, even violent ones, in adult prison systems, can worsen their behaviors and increase recidivism. Labeling theory can partially explain why labeling juveniles as criminals can socially stigmatize them enough to accept the labels as their permanent identities (Gaines & Miller, 2013, p.530). It is interesting to study how the justice system contributes to recidivism based on how it handles juvenile delinquents. In addition, â€Å"juvenile delinquency recidivism† is an important topic in criminal justice because juveniles can turn to lifetime criminals. It is crucial to use the right intervention programs to stop the further development of juveniles to adult criminals. â€Å"White-collar crime† should be clearly defined as a research concept and legal term because its definition affects the identification of white-collar criminals. The research can focus on how white-collar crime is defined

Strategic structure of regulatory legislative frameworks for Dissertation

Strategic structure of regulatory legislative frameworks for sustainable development of Iraqi and Kurdistan Region oil and gas r - Dissertation Example When this government was dissembled, new laws and regulatory processes had to be installed and the Constitution (2005) was the first put in place. All other laws and regulations would stem from this piece of legislative work as time went on.1 Currently, this thesis argues that Iraq’s legal system must be seen as a product of Iraq’s distinctive history and local circumstances. It analyses the current nature of Iraq’s regulatory infrastructure and notes that Iraq’s law builders have relied heavily upon the United States model which may not suit Iraq in its current state of rebuilding the country. Therefore, this thesis argues that Iraq’s approach to law reform and development in this area has not always produced a body of law that is appropriate to Iraq’s particular circumstances. Examples within the regulatory system are analysed in this chapter with proposals for better solutions made at the end of the chapter. As there are a number of ways t o conduct doctrinal research and analysis methods, this thesis follows the method of Australian higher degree research (HDR), utilizing the two part method of first locating the sources of the law and then interpreting and analysing the text accordingly, with a final presentation of solutions given at the end. As an overview of regulatory infrastructures, it is important to understand why they are in place first: to establish institutions that would provide incentives for sustainable development in long-term economic and legal commitments from all sides; and accordingly, to encourage and protect investment opportunities from both internal and external existing and potential customers.2 Regulation refers to government-instituted controls on business activity as defined by the Handbook for Evaluating Infrastructure Regulatory Systems.3 As such, regulatory infrastructures are perceived to benefit and protect both the clients and those providing the benefits of partnerships. Yet, in mos t cases, many believe that national regulatory systems have failed in Iraq to provide both commitments and protections as they were supposed to do.4 Since Iraq created its first Constitution in 2005, and while somewhat flawed in certain articles, it provides the first real sense of active regulatory infrastructure, geared to environmental and sustainable development for all its peoples. Chapter 4 Analysis This chapter reviews and analyses the regulatory infrastructure currently in place such as the Federal Iraqi Constitution and how any current regulatory systems also align with international regulations which concern oil and gas and sustainable development. The process for analysis shows that it is not enough to describe the laws, processes and institutions but that there is a two-part system of analysis through questions involved: 1) to find out if the formal governance elements have actually been implemented (who’s in charge and how) and 2) then to determine the real actio ns and decisions of the regulators because they affect the performance of all regulated enterprises through all the parts affected.5 This also aligns with working with international groups such as the Kyoto Protocol and the United Nations in its various commissions. As a final observation, the Federal Constitution

Accepting an Expert Claim

Accepting an Expert Claim Argument Experts are individuals or organizations proved to be quite knowledgeable and have authority in a particular field. Most organizations prefer hiring and consulting experts in different skills and service delivery. However, this does not guarantee a perfect result for the organization or the company, as many factors may affect the service delivery by the experts. In such cases, the experts are bound to perform against the expectations. Business organizations explore various methods of making decisions that implement business operations. In this work, an argument is based on the following. This paper presents an argument about the expert claim in making decisions. In particular, the paper seeks to explain the rationality of accepting an expert claim in an event that the expert turn out to be erroneous. It is unreasonable to accept the expert claims without evaluating and examining such claims. Although experts are believed to be more knowledgeable in their areas of specialization, any person assigning duties by the expert remains accountable for their actions. In business, leader plays a great role in making business decisions which are more effective. For a business to succeed, it relies upon the decisions made by its leaders. Attaining skills in making effective decisions requires intuition, education and experience. According to Reynolds (2011), effective decisions should be interpreted, explained, evaluated and analyzed before being executed. Before accepting a claim from the expert, the claim should also be examined, analyzed and evaluate properly. Without paying attention to the above process, there is a risk of one facing the consequences of claim taken. Nevertheless, decision making in business involves the following steps. First is the identification of the problem. A specific problem must be revealed before attending to it. Identifying a specific problem enables one to identify a way of solving it. Secondly, the possible solutions for the problem should be well analyzed. This gives a wider range of options that can be considered. In fulfilling this, the decision maker will be able to compare the risks and consider a solution with the lowest risk. Accepting the claims from the experts without considering the risks and the alternatives is unreasonable. The third step is evaluating the probabilities closer to achieving the goal. At this stage, the decision maker can evaluate if the possible solution selected will assist in achieving the right decision. The forth step is making the actual decision (Hew Cheung, 2014). The decision is therefore made having considered many factors; therefore, failure to follow this reasonable process in making business decisions, errors are prone to occur. Business decision making should be a collaborative function that needs the contribution of the concerned parties. Experts in a specific field are to be consulted on the best way of executing a function. However, some experts may not be experienced enough to fulfill the requirements of a given task. Upon involving the experts in decision making, proper evaluation, examination and analysis should be done before a solution is adopted. Furthermore, no matter the position in an organization, each person is accountable his or her decisions. Thinking is a skill that is not naturally endowed but needs to be practiced (Ennis, 2015), and it is the responsibility of everyone to train his/her mind to think critically, and make sound decisions. Reasoning describes ones capacity to think rationally, and making the right business decisions require rational thinking. It is unreasonable enough to take in the opinions from the experts without examining such opinions through rational and critical thinking. References Ennis, R. H. (2015). sphere critique Essay -- essays research papers

Sphere   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Sphere is an interesting story about a group of scientists from different disciplines who are brought to a super-secret underwater site where the U. S. Navy has discovered a mysterious, glowing sphere. Although the movie was very interesting, a lot of scientific facts, it was just too long and there were parts of the film where I found myself yawning. I give the movie a thumb up for being the movie my teacher chose to show the class. Although the movie was directed by Barry Levinson and starred Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone, and Samuel L. Jackson it would not be a movie I would pick off the shelf and rent for my own interest.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Psychologist Norman Goodman is summoned to the middle of the Pacific Ocean, to provide trauma-assistance in what he believes to be a plane crash. When he arrives he is informed that a ship laying fibre optic cables between Honolulu and Sydney had come across an unknown object 1000 feet under the ocean. The navy using SLS side looking sonar was able to detect an aerodynamic fin longer than a football field and longer than any known wingspan. Also using the fusel lodge extra high resolution SLS bottom scan they figured out that the spacecraft was buried under 8 yards of quarrel. Knowing that the pacific quarrel grows at a rate of an inch a year they were able to calculate that the spacecraft crashed about 300 years ago. Also there is a low level hum that the sonar can pick up.    ...

How is Elizabeth Bennet Presented & How Does she Change in the Novel ? Essay

Elizabeth Bennet is second eldest daughter of the Bennet sisters. Although the novel doesn’t have a specific narrator she is used more than any other character as a centre of consciousness, meaning she is the main focus of the reader’s interest. In the novel she is a heroine, however she does make a few mistakes and doesn’t have the characteristics of one. We can tell from how Mr. Bennet’s speaks of Lizzy that she is his favourite daughter, â€Å"I must throw in a good word for my little Lizzy† and when Mrs. Bennet says he will not do such a thing, that she is less good looking than Jane and not half as good-humoured as Lydia, he replies â€Å"They have none of them much to recommend them†¦ they are all silly and ignorant, like other girls; but Lizzy has something more of quickness than her sisters.† She has many witty and tantalizing conversations, where she likes to drop in her strong and independent views. When Jane is ill at Netherfield, Lizzy goes to visit her, with Jane in bed, Mr. Darcy, Mr. Bingley, Lizzy and the Bingley sisters are talking, Darcy and Bingley listing what makes up an ‘accomplished woman’ Elizabeth declares that she â€Å"never saw such capacity, and taste, and application, and elegance, as you describe, united,† implying that Darcy is far too demanding. Most of the interactions between Darcy and Elizabeth take the forms of banter or agrument, with Lizzy’s words making Darcy’s admiration towards her stronger, once he moves past his initial prejudice. She is a very playful and spirited women who enjoys to laugh at people, including herself. We are told after Darcy refuses to dance with her that, â€Å"she told the story with great spirit among her friends; for she had a lively, playful disposition, which delighted in anything ridiculous.† As I said before this is the humour that attracts Darcy. It is not only her wit that Darcy admires, for when she remarks â€Å"Mr. Darcy is all politeness† as a way of avoiding to dance with him, we can she is also hitting back at his rudeness with this sarcastic comment. Elizabeth is one of the most active and strong characters in the novel. â€Å"Elizabeth continued her walk alone †¦ springing over puddles with impatient activity and finding herself at last within view of the house, with weary ankles, dirty stockings and a face glowing with the warmth of exercise.† She walks into the huge house of Netherfield not worrying about what she looks like or what others think of her. Miss Bingley is shocked at her dirty petticoat whereas Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley find this vigour attractive. Chapter 36 is an essential passage as it marks the turnaround in Elizabeth’s opinion. From Elizabeth’s first aquaintance with Darcy she thought him to be a proud and disagreeable, especially when he repiled to Bingley’s comment of how Elizabeth is just as pretty as Jane with â€Å"She (Lizzy) is tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me†. She could never figure out why he was such good friends with Bingley as theyare the complete opersite. Although, Darcy’s ignorance and pride doesn’t change Lizzy eventually comes to see his kindness and his nobility through his actions towards his sister, towards her sisters (Jane and Lydia) as well as the way he comes to not only love her, but to respect her and see her as an equal as well. This is helped majorly by the letter she re-reads a few times until she fully understands what she thought she had sussed out, realizing that she has much less able to understand the natures of people around her than she thought, especially being prejudice towards Darcy and in favor of Wickham. As well as misreading Darcy and Wickham she also recognizes that when Darcy described her family, she at first thought it as rude but then remembers how embarressed she was by her mother, Mrs. Bennet boasting so incredible loud about Mr. Bingley and Jane that Mr. Darcy could over hear and with her sister playing too long on the piano. She understands how wrong she has been and is very humiliated, â€Å"She grew absolutely ashamed of herself †¦ How despicably have I acted †¦ till this moment I never knew my self’’

5 Signs You May Be the Right Person for the Job

5 Signs You May Be the Right Person for the Job Jobs are anything but one size fits all. In fact, another candidate’s â€Å"perfect† position may be your employment nightmare. So how do you know which job promises success and fulfillment and which job harbors only frustration and failure? The short answer? You don’t. But there are some signs to look for throughout the process which can indicate that you’re indeed the right person for the job. Let’s count them down. 1. You’re Charged Up By the Thought of the JobAre you thrilled by the mere thought of the roles and responsibilities involved with a particular job or specific company? Would you wake up every morning looking forward to getting to work and making a contribution? If so, this is a strong indication that the job may be a terrific fit.If, however, you feel more excited about getting any job than about the specifics of the job at hand, this should trigger an alarm.2. You’ll Be Crushed If You Don’t Get ItNo one likes to be rejected. But if the thought of being rejected from a particular job is especially crushing, this may indicate that the job offers a unique opportunity. After all, there are hundreds of thousands of different jobs available at any given moment. If your heart is set on this one above everything else in the job classifieds section, you’re probably the right person for the job.3. It’s In Line With Your Career GoalsHave you always dreamed of working in a specific industry or of being responsible for a certain set of core job functions? If a job offers the opportunity to realize your goals and ambitions, it’s a natural leap to the conclusion that it’s not only the right job for you, but an unprecedented opportunity.Alternatively, if a job feels like a detour from your career path or a step in an uncertain direction, it merits more consideration: can it ultimately help you reach your career goals?4. You’re a Good Culture FitToday’s employers ar e increasingly prioritizing cultural fit - as opposed to mere functional fit - as an important part of the hiring process. This consideration should go both ways. If your beliefs and core values are aligned with a prospective company’s views on everything from collaboration to work/life balance to giving back to the community, this bodes well for your level of satisfaction, productivity, and staying power.5. There’s Plenty of Room for GrowthA job that’s a good fit for you at this particular moment in time may not be a good fit for you five years from now. The â€Å"right† job is not just one that makes sense in the here and now, but is also one with plenty of room for growth. The potential for advancement can also help keep you motivated, inspired and engaged on the job - critical attributes when it comes to professional fulfillment.Ultimately, it’s impossible to know with absolute certainty whether a job is the right one for you. However, these five tips can help you make the most informed and beneficial decision.

Internet Initialisms

Internet Initialisms Internet Initialisms Internet Initialisms By Maeve Maddox Although I’ve adopted a few initialisms such as BTW, LOL, and IMHO in my own informal writing, I’m mostly ignorant of the alphabet soup current on Twitter and other social media sites. When a reader recently introduced me to the combination DRTL, I realized that this new language represents not just a kind of shorthand, but also a new philosophy of written language. This particular construct, DRTL, seems to me to symbolize the new philosophy: DRTL = Didn’t Read, Too Long. Note: A more common version of DRTL is TLDR or tl;dr, meaning too long; didnt read. Strings of commonly understood letter combinations such as FYI (For your information), TGIF (Thank God it’s Friday), and ASAP (As soon as possible) pre-date the Internet, of course, but they never occurred in the profusion that exists now. Readers who share my lack of currency in Abbreviation-Speak may find the following list useful. AFAIK: As far as I know AIUI: As I understand it BTDT: Been there, Done that BTW: By the way F2F: Face to face FOAF: Friend of a friend FWIW: For What it’s worth GAL: Get a life GIGO: Garbage In, Garbage Out HTH: Hope that helps IANAL: I am not a lawyer ICYMI: In case you missed it IIRC: If I recall correctly IMHO: In my humble opinion IMO: In my opinion IRL: In real life ISTM: It seems to me JK (also J/K) Just kidding LOL: Laughing out loud OMG: Oh, My God OTOH: On the other hand OTT: Over the top STW: Search the Web TIL: Today I learned TMI Too much information TTYL: Talk to you later WYSIWYG: What you see is what you get Of course this list is a mere scratching of the surface. And I’ve deliberately left out the ones that contain a gratuitous F. Nevertheless, even a short list may help a few codgers navigate Twitter with a little more comprehension. HTH. Employment-At-Will Doctrine Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Employment-At-Will Doctrine - Assignment Example The at-will employment doctrine is applied in all states in the US apart from Montana (National Conference of States and Legislatures, 2014). In its unmodified form, the doctrine of employment-at-will allows the employer to fire employees as he deems fit without suffering legal consequences. It is, therefore, possible to legally fire an employee. However, the doctrine is a default rule that can be altered by contract. For instance, a contract can provide for a fixed employment term or allow dismissal only for a cause. In the United States, companies usually negotiate employment agreements only with high-rank employees. Collective bargaining agreements usually protect represented workers against termination without cause. Causes include employee’s misconduct, poor performance or economic necessity. An employment contract may specify instances or employee actions that would result into termination for cause (National Conference of States and Legislatures, 2014). Thus, to mitigate the harsh consequences of employment-at-will, courts and statutes carved out exceptions to the doctrine of employment-at-will. Exceptions to the doctrine fall under Common Law and Statutes. Public policy exception to the employment-at-will doctrine protects employees against employment actions that contravene public interest. For instance in most states, an employer cannot fire an employee for declining to violate the law at employer’s request or for filing a workers compensation claim after sustaining an injury while on the job. Public policy is the most widely recognized exception in most states (Muhi, 2001). This is the second major exception to the employment-at-will doctrine. It is applied when an implied contract is created between the employer and the employee, irrespective of express or written instrument regarding the kind of the employment relationship existing. Although employment is usually not governed by contracts,

Journal opinion article Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Journal opinion article - Essay Example This move is stressed for by the European Union as well as the United States of America. Russia on the other hand aims at maintaining its influence on Ukraine and other smaller states of the region which will allow it promoting its products, services and large scaled enterprises such as Gazprom and many more gas and natural resources providing companies and multinationals. Given the fact that Ukraine is largely reliant upon Russia for the fulfillment of its citizens needs, the natural gas resources availability and purchase from Russia is another constraint. With the recent strangulation of ties between them, and the time barring factor and sword hanging over the heads of Ukrainians, the Kiev administration is deeply concerned about the possible backlashes of it. Naftogaz is another stakeholder in the entire event and aims to undermine the impact and influence of Gazprom. Ukraine’s economy that is already hit by the economic recession and other obstacles has found its overall usage and consumption reduced by a given 5 to 9 percent decrease in last year or so. With Russia offering to reduce the rates to 385 dollars per cubic meter, Ukraine still insists on bringing the rates down to the originally set rates that were in place previously. European Union holds key interest and key position with regard to the overall debacle of Ukraine- Russia crisis has beefed up its activities in bid to find an amicable solution. European Union has its backing towards Ukraine and aims at standing by Ukraine in these rough times where Russia has already annexed Crimea (Ortlepp, 161) and is using its economic strength to its benefit (Kolyandr). With the increase in the rates, Ukraine is subsequently left with the impact of higher debts to pay and the time running out on them, the E.U and other global entities have stepped in, in hope to resolve the overall issue and prevent Ukraine from

Effects of the 2008 financial crisis on the investment Essay

Effects of the 2008 financial crisis on the investment - Essay Example The financial crisis of 2008 was observed to impose non-negligible impacts on the Middle East, particularly Qatar, holding the biggest position in the oil and gas resources. The fall in the oil and gas price, have further, strongly impacted the Middle East causing adverse affects the region of Qatar. The decrease in the oil and gas price has made larger exporters to observe the bad debt scenario and has also challenged the countries to pay off their international debts with greater transparency (Council on Foreign Relations, 2009). This not only slowed down the economic growth prospects, affecting the price on the commodity (Setser, 2008). Additionally, it made Middle East countries like Qatar suffer with limited financial capacity to fund projects on continuation, resulting in their failure to suffice developmental needs in time and as planned. Moreover, as the country withdrew from importing vast amount of oil and gas from the US to rejuvenate its financial position, it greatly impacted the monetary policy of the United States Federal Reserve, causing political and economic disruptions in the international trade practices for both the nations (Setser, 2008). Consequently, the sovereign wealth and central bank were considered for greater use in helping the firms and local banks aimed at stabilizing the fiscal position of the economy by refinancing their growing debts. Since the financial crisis, Qatar has used sovereign funds at a greater proportion to recapitalize their banking system and other smaller countries within the Middle East region, shifting its prime focus from attracting foreign funds. To maintain domest ic investment at a positive side and backstop the banks from incurring greater debts in the international market, many Gulf governments needed to draw on their accessible assets (Isfahani, 2008). A direct effect of the financial crisis was observed on the financial institution and the real estate of Qatar, as these

Clinical Psychology Paper Essay Example for Free

Clinical Psychology Paper Essay The great evangelist D.T. Niles once said, â€Å"Christianity is just one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread† (Niles, 2010). At its most basic level, clinical psychology is the enterprise of one educated, licensed person using his or her knowledge of human behavior to address, assuage, or otherwise moderate the troubles and concerns of another person’s life—whether they be relational, affective, or physiological. Strictly speaking, clinical psychology is, â€Å"the assessment, treatment, and understanding of psychological and behavioral problems and disorders† (Plante, 2011, p. 5). Clinical psychology is a scientific endeavor, utilizing the instrument of the scientific method to inform the practice, procedures, and treatments used to address human problems. There is an interplay that exists between treatment outcome research and psychotherapy in clinical psychology—the science informs the art and the art informs the science (Plante, 2011). The point of this paper is to catalogue and compare the history and evolving nature of clinical psychology as well as to consider the specific case of counseling within the framework of clinical psychology. History Hippocrates—the original author of the Hippocratic Oath—formed the first complete, if naà ¯ve, physiological explanation of disease and dysfunction (Plante, 2011). He proposed that imbalances in the mixture and quantity of four fluids: black bile, yellow bile, phlegm, and blood, caused several emotions and psychological maladjustment, such as sadness, irritability, and anger. It was not until the advents of Plato that it was conceived that the metaphysical realm of the soul could have an effect on the corporeal domain. However, it was to Galen that a holistic theory of medicine was formed that incorporated the physiological explanations of Hippocrates with the metaphysical explanations of Plato. Even though Galen’s ideas of bloodletting were flawed, it was a step in the direction of objective explanations of illness and disease. During the middle ages the work of Thomas Aquinas, Paracelsus, and Weyer shifted the discussion of psychology away from the metaphysical and toward physical explanations of mental illness, such as bodily causes, movements of the stars, and behavior. Furthermore, at the dawn of the Renaissance and into the nineteenth century the veil of shadow and secrecy behind the inner workings of the mind, body, and cell were ripped from his or her places and the mediums of scientific observation and laboratory investigation were instituted in the place of religion and mysticism as the sole explanation of illness. The works of Rush, Bernard, and Pinel during this period of history paved the way for more humane approaches to the abnormal and deviant—approaches that sought to alleviate psychological dysfunction rather than simply separate and restrain the dysfunctional. The birth of psychology proper came on the heels of the publishing of Wundt’s The Elements of Psychophysics in 1850 and James’ Principles of Psychology in 1890 (Plante, 2011). These publications, along with the institution of the first psychological laboratory by Wundt, culminated in the founding of the American Psychological Association (APA) in 1892. The main drive behind the fledgling field of psychology was to measure empirically behavior to the end of understanding the subsidiary components of the mind itself. Hence, when clinical psychology first got on its feet four years later (1896), through the opening of the first clinic by Witmer, many psychologists frowned upon the application of the principles of human behavior to clinical situations. This was seen as a step away from a general understanding of human behavior and toward abnormal or dysfunctional psychology. Despite the initial tension between clinical psychology and mainstream psychology, the first formal classes in clinical psychology began in 1904 at the University of Pennsylvania and the first edition of the Journal of Abnormal Psychology was published in 1907. Evolving Nature Despite the disinclination of the APA to embrace an applied approach to psychology, clinical psychology grew rapidly in the beginning of the twentieth century (Plante, 2011). Going back to Plato’s contention of the metaphysical affecting the corporeal, Sigmund Freud postulated that unconscious conflict and strife could have a direct outcome on mental and physical illness. The work of Freud shaped and molded the direction of clinical psychology for many decades after his death. Even though it was not until the Boulder Conference of 1949 that the training guidelines for clinical psychology were mapped out and etched in stone, so to speak. One of the main tenets of these guidelines was that clinical psychologists should have a firm understanding of both psychological research and psychotherapy. It was not until the 1950s and on that Freud’s ideas of human psychology were exchanged for the alternatives of humanism, cognitive-behaviorism, and family systems approaches (Plante, 2011). The changes in psychological perspective were precipitated by the establishment of community mental health facilities and the introduction of psychotropic drugs as a treatment of abnormal psychology. Even though these advancements in conception and treatment offered alternatives to the traditional ideas of psychodynamics and behaviorism, no one theory of human psychology proved to explain the entirety of behavior, dysfunction, and cognition. To that end, parsimoniously eclectic approaches to psychology were adopted—such as the biopsychosocial theory—that incorporated many of the ideas and practices from the abovementioned perspectives. Current Issues The last century of clinical psychology has been characterized by an illness ideology that emphasizes the treatment or preventions of disorders (Maddux, 2008). Even though this approach has utility in the realm of psychotherapy it lacks the ability to enhance the quality of life for people who do not suffer from some type of mental illness. Maddux (2008) proposes that a shift toward positive psychology—a perspective that stresses human strengths and mental health—should be pursued. Positive psychology aims to, â€Å"†¦promote health, happiness, physical fitness, and pleasure, and personal fulfillment through the free pursuit of chosen and valued goals† (Maddux, 2008, p. 68). By shifting toward positive psychology the strengths of people can be used to promote mental health preemptively as well as combat mental illness. At the forefront of the implementation of positive psychology is the innovation of virtual reality (VR) as a means to allow patients to manipulate problematic situations related to his or her mental illness without the use of psychotherapy (Riva, 2009). By creating a safe and comfortable virtual environment patients can explore proactive ways to adapt and mediate his or her mental health problems. Research and Statistics in Clinical Counseling Psychology Rather than approach this section from a structuralist approach (e.g. the ancillary parts of clinical counseling psychology), it seems prudent to offer a specific example of how research and statistics are used and effect clinical counseling psychology. Bakar, Jaafar, Mohamed Tarmizi (2009) sought to establish a correlation between counseling self-efficacy and trainee counselor performance. Their research found that indeed there is a positive relationship (r(100)=.312p.05) and furthermore that a general tendency exists whereby self-efficacy predicts future performance. As Plante (2011) put it, â€Å"The science of clinical psychology informs the art while the art also informs the science† (p. 6). In the case of Bakar’s et al. (2009) research, by using the statistical data collected in their study the art of counseling can be influenced and adapted by the science of research and statistics. Specifically Bakars et al. suggested that the training of supervisors is of paramount importance to trainee self-efficacy, because high competence in the supervisor encourages high competence in the trainee. Conclusion In sum, from the first theory of interplay between the metaphysical and the corporeal to the first postulations of a biological basis for mental illness, the investigation of the human condition has sought an explanation for the relationship between psychology and physiology. As the history of psychology in general progressed there was a tendency to seek out more empirical, scientifically ascertainable explanations of human behavior. However, as clinical psychology rose in the late 19th century and early 20th century an applied approach to mental illness was adopted that emphasized a hands-on method to treatment. Currently there is a shift in clinical psychology toward prevention and human strengths and away from the illness ideology of the past century. This can be seen most readily in the institution of VR as a preemptive approach to mental illness. Research and statistics act for clinical counseling psychology as a compass or corrective instrument to inform the practice and training of clinical counseling psychologists. Schneck vs United States :: essays research papers

Schenck vs. United States- 1919 HOLLIES, J. This is an indictment in three counts. The first charges a conspiracy to violate the Espionage Act of June 15, 1917 . . . by causing and attempting to cause insubordination, &c., in the military and naval forces of the United States, and to obstruct the recruiting and enlistment service of the United States, when the United States was at war with the German Empire, to wit, that the defendants willfully conspired to have printed and circulated to men who had been called and accepted for military service under the Act of May 18, 1917, a document set forth and alleged to be calculated to cause such insubordination and obstruction. The count alleges overt acts in pursuance of the conspiracy, ending in the distribution of the document set forth. . . . They set up the First Amendment to the Constitution forbidding Congress to make any law abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, and bringing the case here on that ground have argued some other points also of which w e must dispose. It is argued that the evidence, if admissible, was not sufficient to prove that the defendant Schenck was concerned in sending the documents. According to the testimony Schenck said he was general secretary of the Socialist party and had charge of the Socialist headquarters from which the documents were sent. He identified a book found there as the minutes of the Executive Committee of the party The book showed a resolution of August 13, 1917, that 15,000 leaflets should be printed on the other side of one of them in use, to be mailed to men who had passed exemption boards, and for distribution. Schenck personally attended to the printing. On August 20 the general secretary's report said, "Obtained new leaflets from printer and started work addressing envelopes" &c.; and there was a resolve that Comrade Schenck be allowed $125 for sending leaflets through the mail. He said that he had about fifteen or sixteen thousand printed. There were files of the circular in questio n in the inner office which he said were printed on the other side of the one sided circular and were there for distribu|tion. Other copies were proved to have been sent through the mails to drafted men. With; out going into confirmatory details that were l proved, no reasonable man could doubt that the defendant Schenck was largely instrumental in sending the circulars about.

Anatomy and Physiology Cells

This essay will outline the functions of the main cell components, these consist of the nucleus, nuclear membrane, mitochondria, lysosomes, Golgi apparatus, cell membrane, ribosomes, cytoplasm and endoplasmic reticulum both rough and smooth. Images: [3] Every human body has billions of microscopic units called cells. Cells carry out numerous of chemical reactions and processes that make up the essence of life. The structure of cells varies in size and shape and has different functions. There are four main features with in a cell and these consist of the cell membrane also known as the plasma, the cell nucleus which contains mature red blood cells, the cytoplasm and the organelles which is a â€Å"various component of a cell with a distinct structure and their own functions and can be likened to miniature organs. Organelles include mitochondria, the endoplasmic reticulum the Golgi apparatus and lysosomes† [1] The nucleus is usually the largest structure inside the cell which con tains chromosomes which contains deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), this is the genetic coding material which determines difference characteristics. The nucleus main function is to contain instructions for growth, work and maintenance of the cell, it controls nearly all the activities of the cell. â€Å"A smaller, darker sphere is often visible, the nucleolus, this is a source of ribonucleic acid (RNA) one of the nucleic acids† [2]. When a cell is not dividing (known as resting) this is called the chromatin network and the nuclear material appears like a thick, triangle mass. When a cell is in the process of dividing, the chromatin network separates into distinct black threads known as chromosomes and there are 23 pairs of chromosomes in a human cell. The nuclear membrane is made up of 2layers, each composed of a lipid bilayer. It has holes all over which are called nuclear pores, to facilitate and regulate the exchange of materials, for example, proteins and RNA, between the nucleu s and cytoplasm. The outer membrane is continuous with the endoplasmic reticulum. The inner membrane is linked with a network of intermediate filaments called nuclear lamina acts as a site of attachment for chromosomes. It also acts as a shield for the nucleus†. [4] The mitochondria are rod shaped or spherical shaped, they are very energy active cells. Each mitochondrion has a double layered membrane but the inner layer is folded at intervals, producing a series of ridges known as cristae which is where the enzymes responsible for the end stages of cell respiration. â€Å"The energy released from glucose is stored until it is needed by a chemical battery called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). When energy is required for building complex molecules or doing work like contracting muscles, ATP breaks down to adenosine diphosphate (ADP), releasing energy to build chemical bonds. The ADP is recycled, to be built up once more into ATP, using the energy released from glucose. â€Å"[3] The number of mitochondria in a cell depends on the amount of energy it needs to perform its function, for example the muscle cell will have a large amount because it needs a lot of energy. Images: [4] Lysosomes are very small vesicles produced by part of the Golgi apparatus. They contain powerful enzymes that destroy bacteria, protein, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids and other foreign materials and they release it outside the cells. ysosomes travel freely within the cell and by releasing their contents they can destroy old or damaged organelles and in some cases entire cells, like the clean-up crew of the cell that eliminate anything that has outlived their usefulness. The Golgi apparatus packages protein to deliver to other organelles or outwards from the lysosomes. This appears to look flattened, fluid filled sacs which are stacked upon each other. Images: [2] â€Å"The cell membrane is a thin semi-permeable membrane that surrounds the cytoplasm of a cell, enclosing its con tents. Its function is to protect the integrity of the interior of the cell by allowing certain substances into the cell† (for example, gases and liquids), â€Å"while keeping other substances out† [6]. The cytoplasm is semi-fluid, gel like substance that gives shape to the cell. This where metabolism takes place and this accommodates cell organelles such the mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum. There are two types of endoplasmic reticulum (ER), rough and smooth. The rough ER is studded with tiny black bodies called ribosomes and its functions are to manufacture cell proteins and act as a temporary storage area. Sometimes sugars are added to protein (glycoprotein) in secretions like mucus. The smooth ER has no attached ribosomes and is involved in the metabolism. â€Å"Smooth ER is important in the synthesis of lipids and membrane proteins. Rough ER is important in the synthesis of other proteins. Information coded in DNA sequences in the nucleus is transcribed as messenger RNA. Messenger RNA exits the nucleus through small pores to enter the cytoplasm. At the ribosomes on the rough ER, the messenger RNA is translated into proteins. These proteins are then transferred to the Golgi in â€Å"transport vesicles† where they are further processed and packaged into lysosomes, peroxisomes, or secretory vesicles† [5] The reticulum network fills the cell interior and channels passage ways for transporting materials to and from parts of the cell. Images: [1] Ribosomes what are studded all over rough ER. â€Å"A ribosome is a biological molecule made of ribonucleic acid (RNA) and proteins (ribosomal proteins). The structure of a ribosome is complex, and it is responsible for making the millions of proteins that are needed by cells. Think of a ribosome as a small protein biosynthetic factory that translates the DNA genetic information into an amino acid sequence (the primary structure of proteins). † [7] A ribosome may be located in ma ny places within the cell. Some are in the cytosol and others are bound to cellular membranes. Membrane-bound ribosomes are responsible for the characteristic roughness of the endoplasmic reticulum when seen under a microscope.Reference: Images: 1. Anon. Kents most notable characteristics are his loyalty and bluntness Essays

Kents most notable characteristics are his loyalty and bluntness Essays Kents most notable characteristics are his loyalty and bluntness Essay Kents most notable characteristics are his loyalty and bluntness Essay Essay Topic: Literature The character of King Lears Kent is a formidable one. Whether it is the extent of his service to the King, the harshness and imagination with which he fights to defend the King or his character progression throughout the play. His most notable characteristics are definitely his incessant loyalty and his use of blunt language when his respectful interjections are ignored. It is his loyalty that motivates him and his bluntness that lands him in trouble. He speaks up to the King and warns him about his hideous rashness in the treatment of Cordelia and is blunt and to the point What wouldst thou do, old man? Act 1 Scene 1; but only uses this language when he is not being taken into consideration. We normally hear Kent referring to the King in a respectful and loyal manner my lord and my leige. His bluntness and forwardness towards the King leads to his banishment, which Kent accepts but not without a final word of advice See better Lear, and let me still remain the true blank of thine eye. Act 1 Scene 1 We notice that his advice and speeches are justified by the subsequent events of the play. His reference towards the Kings daughters prior to leaving the court is a sign of what is still to come . the gods to their dear shelter take thee, maid, that justly thinkst and hast most rightly said;(to Cordelia) And your large speeches may your deeds approve, that good effects may spring from words of love. (To Goneril Regan) Act 1 Scene 1 The extent of his loyalty is shown when he assumes the disguise as Caius and presents himself to the King, in order to remain close to him. If but as well I other accents borrow that can my speech diffuse, my good intent May carry through itself to that full issue for which I razed my likeness. Now, banishment Kent, if thou canst serve where thou dost stand condemned So may it come thy master whom thou lovst shall find thee full of labours. He offers his services to the King, and relates how he thinks a servant, counsel or aid should serve the King, which is the same way he had served the King in the past I can keep honest counsel, ride, run, mar a curious tale in telling it and deliver a plain message bluntly. That which ordinary men are fit for I am qualified in, and the best of me is diligence. Act 1 Scene 4 This is ironic though as the same reasons Lear banished Kent are the same reasons he is employing Caius! He proves his loyalty by defending Lear against Oswald, he trips him. Lear begins to trust Caius and gives him a letter to be delivered to Regan. Kent pledges his loyalty and obedience; I will not sleep, my lord, till I have delivered your letter. When Lear arrives at Gloucesters castle and is confronted with Oswald, we see the light heartedness and imagery used to portray the emotions and situation within the play; this was Shakespeares way of interjecting a bit of Comic Relief into this stressful play. Again we see the modesty of Kents character and loyalty towards the King when he bluntly insults Regan, Cornwall and Edgar in Act 2 Scene 2 I have seen better faces in my time than stands on any shoulder that I see before me at this instant. His speech once again leads him to trouble and he ends up in the stocks. Kent keeps us informed on the plot development of the play and on Cordelias movements and plans. He is very concerned about the King out in the storm, the Kings comfort and well-being are of utmost importance to him. Gracious my lord, hard by here is a hovel:.. Kent tries to reason with Lear when he starts to compare himself to Poor Tom (Edgar), he tries to assist him; he hath no daughters, sir. (Act 3 Scene 4) When Kent meets Gloucester, he informs him of Lears state of mind and shows his concern for the well-being of the King; Here sir, but trouble him not; his wits are gone. He never stops protecting the King and assisting him. As the play progresses we notice that the role of Kent slowly reduces, initially he has great speeches and is ready to endure all, but only till his master needs him! Its like he loses all his purpose in life with the death of King Lear, and fades away; I have a journey, sir, shortly to go; My master calls me, I must not say no. He follows Lear even in death. Loyal to the end!

How to Convert Grams to Moles and Vice Versa

How to Convert Grams to Moles and Vice Versa This worked example problem shows how to convert the number of grams of a molecule to the number of moles of the molecule. Why would you need to do that? This type of conversion problem mainly arises when you are given (or must measure) the mass of a sample in grams and then need to work a ratio or balanced equation problem that requires moles. Key Takeaways: Converting Moles to Grams (and Vice Versa) Grams and moles are two units to express the amount of matter in a sample. There is no conversion formula between the two units. Instead, you must use atomic mass values and the chemical formula to do the conversion. To do this, look up atomic masses on the periodic table and use the formula mass to know how many atoms of each element are in a compound.Remember, subscripts in a formula indicate number of atoms. If there is no subscript, it means there is only one atom of that element in the formula.Multiply the number of atoms of an element by its atomic mass. Do this for all the atoms and add the values together to get the number of grams per mole. This is your conversion factor. Grams to Moles Conversion Problem Determine the number of moles of CO2 in 454 grams of CO2. Solution First, look up the atomic masses for carbon and oxygen from the periodic table. The atomic mass of C is 12.01, and the atomic mass of O is 16.00. The formula mass of CO2 is: 12.01 2(16.00) 44.01 Thus, one mole of CO2 weighs 44.01 grams. This relation provides a conversion factor to go from grams to moles. Using the factor 1 mol/44.01 g: moles CO2 454 g x 1 mol/44.01 g 10.3 moles Answer There are 10.3 moles of CO2 in 454 grams of CO2. Moles to Grams Example Problem On the other hand, sometimes youre given a value in moles and need to convert it to grams. To do this, first calculate the molar mass of a sample. Then, multiply it by the number of moles to get an answer in grams: grams of sample (molar mass) x (moles) For example, find the number of grams in 0.700 moles of hydrogen peroxide, H2O2. Calculate the molar mass by multiplying the number of atoms of each element in the compound (its subscript) times the atomic mass of the element from the periodic table. Molar mass (2 x 1.008) (2 x 15.999) Note the use of more significant figures for oxygenMolar mass 34.016 grams/mol Multiply the molar mass by the number of moles to get the grams: grams of hydrogen peroxide (34.016 grams/mol) x (0.700 mol) 23.811 grams There are 23.811 grams of hydrogen peroxide in 0.700 moles of hydrogen peroxide. Performing Grams and Moles Conversions Here are some tips for performing these conversions: The two problems most commonly encountered are setting up the problem incorrectly, so the units dont cancel out and give the correct result. It helps to write out the conversion and make sure units cancel. You may want to draw a line through them in complex calculations to keep track of active units.Watch your significant figures. Chemistry professors are unforgiving when it comes to reporting an answer, even if you set up the problem correctly. Moles to Grams Conversion Problem Sometimes you are given moles and need to convert it into grams. This worked example problem shows you  how to convert moles to grams. Problem Determine the mass in grams of 3.60 mol of H2SO4. Solution First, look up the atomic masses for hydrogen, sulfur, and oxygen from the  periodic table. The atomic mass is 1.008 for H, 32.06 for S, and 16.00 for O.  The formula mass  of H2SO4  is: 2(1.008) 32.06 4(16.00) 98.08 Thus, one mole of H2SO4  weighs 98.08 grams. This relation provides a conversion factor to go from grams to moles. Using the factor 98.08 g / 1 mol: grams H2SO4   3.60 mol x 98.08 g / 1 mol 353 g H2SO4 Answer There are 353 grams of H2SO4 in 3.60 moles of H2SO4.

Unit 15- P1 Til M3 Essays

Unit 15- P1 Til M3 Essays Unit 15- P1 Til M3 Essay Unit 15- P1 Til M3 Essay In this assignment I am going to write about developing of a career in business. I was always thinking how my future would look like and what a person I want to be, what I want to do and how I will come there. This unit does help me because I thought it would be easy to achieve my dream. With this plan I can think about which resources could help me to develop my career. What goals and objectives I need to set for my short, medium and long terms. To know what my strengths and weakness are could help me because I know then what skills I posses and what skills I need to acquire for now and future. Before I had to face this unit I did not realize making career plan was useful but now I do. To make a career plan can be useful for me because it can help me to gain new skills, stay on track and more forward to meet my goals. [pic] Pass 1 – Researching Career Information In this assignment I am going to identify the 6 sources where I can found out information to help me to develop my career. Internet Internet is one of the best sources that could help me because I can find information about career jobs, education and more. Google is useful because when I type a name like International Sales Manager or I am looking for a job it shows me career plans for entrepreneurs, vacancies, what skills experience is needed for the job. From this I can see if it is the job I want to do later or not. Also I can use the internet for other things that relates to my career path such as researching how I can become confident, building interpersonal skills, courses that has to do with business. Kchandel. nl is also useful because it provides for the students information and websites about entrepreneurship, traineeship. Carrieretijger. nl provides information about courses and education and what jobs i can do with my qualification certificate when i finish. www. google. nl www. wikipedia. nl www. carrieretijger. nl www. kchandel. nl Family My family is one of my sources to develop my career. First of all is my mother the first place because she motivates me to do everything, even when I am down and thinking that something is impossible. She gave me advice and say always to think positive about my life and that everything what I want to do is possible. My uncle gave me last year also advice about my education. I did want to choose the Fashion course but he changed my mind. He told me that if I would do business that I would have better career and that I can combine with fashion. Also he told me that if I would go for the Fashion course that it would be a difficultly challenge to become well-known fashion designer. Some friend of my mum did long time IBL and is now working as International Import/Export manager. I see him always once in a year and he tells me always some useful information and he has very good influence on me because when I see him, i am getting motivated to work hard. Magazine Sometimes a magazine can inspire me because there are some interesting life stories. The story goes about marriage, love, career with their solutions. Also some of the magazines are a questionnaire that discovers after you completed what person u are etc. A magazine i can always some tips and tricks about how to be confident, to look good and how to learn better. On a magazine I find pictures of famous people with their life stories such as how they become rich and famous from nothing. How they develop them self to do everything to meet their dreams and what strategy they used. In a magazine i can read lot information’s about how to make money, where to invest in and how i can safe and control it. Cosmopolitan magazine Inc. magazine Money magazine Pass 1 – Researching Career Information Education/teacher The best source to my career path is my school that I am doing now because on a school everyone is there to learn. Learning is a powerful tool in the word because the more you gain knowledge the better you get along in the world. With education I would become wiser and will get later jobs that are paid well. The school prepares me for later, I will get some basis knowledge about the career and gives me qualification and credentials that are essential for to get types of better paying jobs. Also the teachers on school can help me with problems to find solutions for it and to teach me. Even the school gives me the ability how it would be to work in a real company for couple weeks or months. At school I can ask my teacher information about mine weakness and strengths that she has noticed in the class or via the homework. Also I can ask what skills I need and how I can develop it. My SLB teacher will tell me on what subject for example in French to focus and put some more attention to it so I can achieve in that subject and also I can ask her any information that has to do with school as well for later. She can give me e. g. if I am good in mathematics to do accountancy or if I am good in communication to do commercial and this will easy to make choices because I know than where I am good in. Also i can ask my SLB teacher information about qualification, method of learning and little bit about career advice. Books Books are in some cases useful for developing your career path. I have read a while ago a book called Strategic planning. From this book I have seen some tools I can use, how i can plan and to achieve it. Also books can provide information about the business itself. In the class we use a lot of books that has to do with languages, Economic, Mathematics and so on and we can make assessments about it. The BTEC course book gives us a abbreviation of everything that has to do with business and we can use it to make our assignments. Also a normal book can help me to learn new words and to develop my language in Spanish or English. Simplified strategic planning BTEC course books and more. Pass 1 – Researching Career Information Older students We had last month a student in one of the unit lessons. She told us information about the units and to let us understand where the pass, merit and distinctions stand for. Also what the expectation are from the students and the credit points that we have to get. She couldnt find a traineeship in other coun try so she had to make clean in Spain. From this I have learned that I wont make the same mistake as she did and I will do my best. Now i have understand the criteria pass, merit and distinction I would go work harder to achieve enough points so I can do later in Higher Education International Business and Languages. Ranking of sources: 1. Education/school: because there are teachers to teach me and prepare me for future 2. family: because if I have family who support me i will be motivated to follow my dream 3. Internet could help me in any cases of finding information that i need for school or about myself. 4. Books: at school we use books to make homework and to learn. It is useful for me because I can gain from a book basic knowledge about, in this case business, languages etc. 5. Older students: they can give me information and advice because they have experiences and know more things; this could help me to prevent to make same problems or helps me to do better at school. Pass 2 – Creating a Career Plan For this assignment I will complete a career plan that will identify my development needs. There are many important things in my life where I strive for. Needs: House A house is important for me because without a house I will be homeless and live on the street. First I will rent a beautiful apartment in a flat. I would then have only 1 room for myself. Later when I am pretty sure that I have a job that is paid good than I will go over to buy a house. The house must have 5 big rooms, big front and back garden where I can relax with my family and colleagues and my children. In the back garden I will make space for flowers, car parking and big swim pool. Because I am busy working mother I shall take someone who cleans the house and a chef cook to make food till my children grow. After they become the age 15 then I will fire the chef cooks and let my children cook so they learn cooking. In my house I want 5 rooms because if I have 3 children to give them their own room. The other rooms would one for me and the last a quest room. I have already a budget for my dream house, the budget will me half million. I want to locate my house near the city. My dream house will take place in Miami. Also I will buy houses in other favorite countries, so when I am on holiday that I can stay there and enjoy my holiday in my fresh new house. Food and being healthy Food is the most important thing that every one that has a life need. Without food a person simply dies. Food is needed to stay alive, to be fit and healthy. Food promotes for the growth of our body. In every case is food a good thing for the body and also for other things. For example if I am in the lesson and I cannot concentrate because I havent breakfasted. Food can gives a lot of advantages to me because I will be fit, strong and energy full to work, move, run and staying healthy. Being healthy is also another thing. A person has to eat health food such as fruits and vegetables. We all have to avoid junk food because it is not healthy, can cause diseases and we can become fat. If I eat healthy food I am mostly resistant to become sick and I will be fit. Job and money In my life, is to have a job is most the important thing because without job I do not have money. For everything is money needed like to pay the rent of the house, to buy food, to pay education for my children and much more. Simply a life without money is like living without food and house so to have a job is really necessary because these 2 things belong together. I want to be later a Import/Export Manager because is been always my dream and with my incomes I can be independent from my family or other people. I want later to earn each month â‚ ¬9000 for to pay my bills and to safe â‚ ¬6000 monthly. Also I will not stay later in this country I want to work in United States. I want to work each week 60 hours so I can make monthly enough money. I will give 20% of my saving money to a poverty charity. With the other money I will buy a big house and holiday houses in other countries and spend the education of my children. Pass 2 – Creating a Career Plan Wants: Car and driving license Next year I am going to learn and take lessons for my driving license. I want to take 4 hours each week. I will pay each our 30 euro for the lessons and will buy a book where I can learn about rules so I can make the theory test and graduate for it. While I am learning I will also focusing on my driving lessons and make the real driving test so I can get my driving license. After I have my driving license then I will buy a beginner car in case I make accidents than I do not really bother about the car. About couple years later I want to buy a beautiful car Peugeot 307 cc car. To have a driving license is important because I cannot buy a car without having a driving license. Driving license makes sure that I have learned how to drive and what the rules are. In other hand a car is also important because it is very useful when I want to buy food and I do not live near a market. Also it is easier than to take bus or train everyday in the morning when I am going to school or work. Holiday I think that I always will need to go on a holiday because I want to enjoy in the summer. I need really to go on a holiday because I havent been on a holiday for 2 years. I have tried in the past years to save money so I can go on holiday. I am thinking to in the next summer to go Egypt. I want to spend â‚ ¬500 in shopping, I want to hire for â‚ ¬200 each month for a big house and be there whole summer in Egypt. I will go to the capital city Cairo and visit the pyramids, sphinx and Egyptian museum. It is for me important because I am wondering how Egypt looks like and the story about the pharaoh and pyramids inspire me. To take a holiday would be very important to me because I can take break from everything like from school or work. On a holiday I can relax because later when I am finished with school and are working as import/export manager than I have to work hard and long. Also i will travel to other countries for meetings etc. This work can be stress full because in this position I have to be flexible, efficient, pro-active and much more. Later I am going once a year on holiday than now because I am than busy and I want also to spend most time at work because it is important. When I have holiday I would go to the most beautiful places in the world. Each year I would go to other countries. The countries I prefer to go are: Florida, Miami, China, Costa Rica and Turkey and each time I will be there a month and stay there in hotel and hire a car so I can go easy everywhere and buy there a lot of clothes and jewelers. Pass 2 – Creating a Career Plan 3 jobs that I am interested in Sales manager I am interest at this job because it gives bonus and car allowance. Also i am motivated person, can lead the team and can take responsibilities. I am also good in organizing and motivate everyone to meet their targets. This job is also good paid and has high standard. After I finish my HBO Bachelor I will go to a company to get experience and prepare for this job. Export/Import Assistant I am interested at this job because I like always to assistant someone. Also I am good in organizing my work, preparing and notifying customers. This job could be good for me because I can become in higher position like export/import manager and with this job I will get experiences and know later how to face when problems are. I found these jobs from Monsterboard. nl Entrepreneur I am interested in entrepreneurship because I was always dreaming of setting a lawyer business company. I am a creative person and I want to hire a lot of lawyers and work with them as partnership. This could give me advantage because it will become easier to set up the business and I can help people who are in trouble. I will be the leader and the lawyers are working for me as well for them self to get paid from the customers. I am sitting now in the 1st year of IBS on Zadkine College and to finish this course it takes 3 years. I had chosen Spanish when I enrol this course, but I am also doing French because I want to have an international job and for further education I need to posses 2 languages. When I am graduated and have my diploma I will go further with studying International Business and Languages on HBO and this takes another 3 years. Besides studying I will take a part-time job as commercial employee so I can get experience. When I am finished with my education I want to get a full job as a Sales manager in a little company to gain more knowledge so I can work later in a big company and that has good image and nice colleagues to work with. I want to work in a company that operates national as well international and has other branches all over the world. In this case I will speak other languages to my colleagues. I want to travel a lot of times in another country for my work like meetings. Later when I am professional in all these work I want to start my own lawyer office that operates only in Amsterdam. I will hire lawyers and they will work for me and also for them self. I want to become a well know business for every one that has problem and is in court. I will not take long holidays because I do not want to let my worker do the work alone. When I take holiday I will go visit my family and go other countries where I can relax. Merit 1 – Creating a Career Plan Assess methods of achieving development needs within the timeframe of the career plan. In this assignment I am going to carry out a SWOT analysis for myself because this could help me to fulfilling this assignment. Using the SWOT analysis will help me to outline my strong points that could help me in succeeding and weak points what could prevent from succeeding so need to need to improve. Also the threats and opportunities I might face. The SWOT analysis is a method to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats that are involved in a business or projects. The SWOT analysis has two main categories; internal and external. Strengths and Weaknesses are the internal factors because it is from you and the Treats and Opportunities external because they are influences from outside. This method identifies which are advantages and disadvantages of achieving that objective. This is how a SWOT analysis looks like: [pic] Merit 1 – Creating a Career Plan My SWOT analysis |Strengths |Weaknesses | |I am a social person and am able to talk confidently to a variety of|My weakness is that I do not understand a lot about mathematics | |different people. I will be focus now on my weaknesses to develop for later. I am likely to succeed my career plan when I look to my opportunities and Strengths because I am doing now an education which gives me basic knowledge of international business, gives me the chance to learn other languages so I can speak to people with other people. When I want to start my business my family and friends could help me. Because I am a social person, communicate well and listen to people I can satisfy my customers which means for later that I will make a good start to get more connections. With my creative thinking I can make good plans, find solutions for my future and now. How I am going to run my business and now how I am finishing my education successful. However there are some weak points that might prevent to succeed. I do not understand a lot of mathematic and this could be a problem for me if I want to set up my business. I have to know what money I have to invest in my business and calculate the revenue, profit etc. If I make a mistake my company will have problems also if I am lazy. To get a job might be difficult nowadays and to be well-know business also because the there are other business who stands higher position now. Pass 3 – Developing Transferable Business Skills For this assignment I am going to carry out a skills audit that identifies skills gap. |Skills |Bad |Average |Good |Explanation | |Teamwork | | |xX |Team working is very important when you work in an organization. When I | | | | | |work in a team I can learn different methods to finish the work. I gain | | | | | |this skill from the projects at school and also I am a social person, so | | | | | |it is easily to work with everyone. I do not need to develop this skill | | | | | |anymore because I do well. | |Patient | |x |X |I am a little bit impatient person. I do not like when something takes so | | | | | |long and it annoys me. I can get frustrated and stressed for example in | | | | | |the lesson when a teacher explains what we have to do, then I want to | | | | | |begin quick with working and not have to wait till everyone questions are | | | | | |answered. I earn this from my family. I do need to develop to become more | | | | | |patience because if I do not change it than problems can arise. I can gain| | | | | |this skill by trying every time to calm down and take yoga will help me I | | | | | |think. | |Creativity | | |xX |I am a very creative person even the teachers and friends say that. I do | | | | | |have always ideas and that brings to make something original and I do not | | | | | |have to think a lot about it and I work hard to make to make a nice | | | | | |result. With creativity I think I am a perfectionist because I will work | | | | | |hard till I get my done. I won in the primary school a lot of challenges | | | | | |that has to do with being creativity. I am born with this skill so I do | | | | | |not need to develop for later. | |Listening skills | |xX | |I am a good listener because I listen to everyone when we have to discuss | | | | | |about a specific subject. I listen to people so if there is a problem so I| | | | | |can solve it or to help that person by listen carefully. In the class I do| | | | | |2 things together like listen to the teacher and making my work at the | | | | | |same time. Only there is 1 problem when I have a listening test in the | | | | | |class I cannot concentrate because I am focusing on one thing. I do not | | | | | |think that later problem could arise in meetings I can look the person so | | | | | |that goes easy. I do not have to improve this skill for later if I am a | | | | | |manager because everything will go through the secretaries. | |Social skills | | |xX |I am a very social person; I can work with everyone easily. I am | | | | | |respectful to everyone and also polite. I like to help people very much | | | | | |when they have a problem like they have not finished their assignment than| | | | | |I let them show my work so they have an idea to finish the work before the| | | | | |deadline. Personally I don’t think that I have to improve on this skill | | | | | |because too social can bring problems, because I would than think about | | | | | |other people than about myself. Later when I am working I have to be hard | | | | | |against rival companies than being social. |Motivation | | |xX |I think that I am very motivated person. I really want to finish this | | | | | |education successful. I do get 2 diploma’s for IBS and that what my | | | | | |short-term goal is. I am finishing all my assignments on time so I can get| | | | | |feedback on it so I can improve on my work. I gain this skill last year | | | | | |because I saw how important for me was when I heard that cannot go the | | | | | |level 4 MBO. It gave me a lot of motivation now and I realize that I have | | | | | |to work hard before I can become a business manager. | |Organization | |x | |I am not very in good in planning and organization. But at this time I am | |/planning skills | | |X |not behind the schedule and working forward. These skills are essential | | | | | |because if I want to achieve my goal- they help keep focusing on doing the| | | | | |right tasks. Now I am doing IBS, it is very important to organize and plan| | | | | |my work so I can finish on time. I think that I have to improve more on | | | | | |this skill by take a course because in this context is being patience | | | | | |important. Later these skills could give me a benefit because I have the | | | | | |ability to manage and to work efficiency and reduce all the stress. |Leadership | |x |X |I don’t know if I have this skill because I do not place every time myself| | | | | |in the leadership position. | | | | | |I only do this when nobody wants to take it. I will take only the | | | | | |leadership when I am working in a group and want to make sure that | | | | | |everything is doing well. When I see that my group isn’t taking serious | | | | | |then I will feel responsible for the whole project and work hard to finish| | | | | |it. I can improve this skill by practicing and taking the leadership | | | | | |position in a group. It is important for later because a leadership has a | | | | | lot of responsibility like being the ownership, being delegated, | | | | | |organized, great listener and communicate effectively. If I do not this | | | | | |point I will not motivate my employees and do not take me serious or see | | | | | |me as a leader. |Self-confidence |x | |X |I am not very confident person because sometimes I feel insecure when I | | | | | |have give presentation in front of a group people. I get then very | | | | | |nervous, my body shakes, speak to fast and don’t make an eye contact. | | | | | |Sometimes I hide my nerves by smiling and laughing. I have to improve on | | | | | |this skills and the best way is to relax, doing more exercise like fitness| | | | | |and eating health food. This skill is important. | | | | | |For now and later because is the basic for successful living. Being | | | | | |confident help me to attain any goal and maximize my satisfaction in my | | | | | |life. |Problem solving | | | |I think I am a good problem solver because if there arise a problem. I am | | | | |xX |always the person who comes up with solutions. I am a good thinker and can| | | | | |make good ideas. I don’t think that I have to improve in this skill | | | | | |because I am on the right level. | | | | |Later this skill I would need definitely because a company has always to | | | | | |face with difficulties and problems. | |Work alone | | |xX |I am more likely to work on my own because I won’t be distracted by other | | | | | |people. I like to work independency because I can focus on my work and | | | | | |finish on t ime and it is the best way to learn. If I work with other | | | | | |person, the work is easily to finish because we have both ideas and done | | | | | |the work and I won’t learn anything. I do not need to improve on this | | | | | |skill because I am independent person. | |Stress managment | |x | |I can be very stressful when I am in an unwanted situation. I can deal | | | | |X |with this if I stay calm down then I can manage my stress. I am to all the| | | | | |time something to distract me like fitness or working on my assignment | | | | | |because if I sit down I would not do anything else than stressing. I think| | | | | |that I have to improve on this skill to become stress resistant. |Languages | |x |X |I can speak different languages like Dutch, Engels, basic French. Also I | | | | | |can speak my own language Somalis very influently like English and Dutch. | | | | | |I think I need to develop some languages like French, Spanish because it | | | | | |gives me for now and later the advantages. If I learn all these languages | | | | | |than I can do on HBO International Business Languages and when I am | | | | | |working I can work later in other countries. | |Communication | |x |X |To communicate is the most important thing in my life as well for | | | | | |everyone. It is necessary that I can communicate ith other person because| | | | | |if I will not do that then problems could arise like misunderstanding. I | | | | | |think that good I am in communication because I can talk easily and clear | | | | | |with other person. But I think that I have improve in this skill by | | | | | |practicing every single day in the class or outside with other people. | | | | |This skill is also important for later and know because it will strength | | | | | |my relationships, minimize the risk of misunderstandings and improve my | | | | | |self-confidence. | |Taking risks |x | |X |I am very bad in taking risks, because I am afraid that things would go | | | | | |wrong or waist my invest ed money. I did once take a risk and that was by | | | | | |doing the same class in the high school and then I left school without | | | | | |high school certificate. But now I am doing the same level MBO as my class| | | | | |mates from the high school. I realized that taking risks advantages are | | | | | |because I was thinking it is impossible to do MBO level 4 and now I am | | | | | |doing it. I think I do need to develop the skill by taking more risks | | | | | |because later the company will need to take sometimes risks to become | | | | | |higher or making profits by investing in something. Pass 4 – SMART Targets I am going to set goals and objectives for my career using the SMART method. Short – term Achieve merit criteria: I can meet this criterion if I finish for this year every assignment including all the passes and the merits. After I have to give all my work before the final date or deadline which means that can get the merit certificate. I already made the first merit assignment and it will not be hard because if I spend enough hours on my homework, then I can finish on time. Every day I will spend 3 hours on doing my assignment in the library. This plan is realistic because my teacher can help me if I have questions about the assignment. The HBO and Master course in the university will take together 5 years. Pass 4 – SMART Targets A Job: Besides studying International Business and Languages, I want to have a part-time job directed to whole sale the Vestiging Manager position. I will work every weekend and after school. Also I will try to do my best on the job for example being on time and making good promotion. If I do for 3 years than I have experience so later when I finish the university look for a job. I would benefit from this because after studying I am have knowledge in the job and can get higher paid than people who do not have experience. Also I have then saved enough money for the future. This plan is realistic if I have my IBS diploma and work hard at my job Car: I want to have a car when I am doing HBO and University. I can buy a car if I firstly get my driving licence. Secondly with a job I can save enough money about 5 month so I can buy a car. I will buy firstly a beautiful second hand car till I am working couple years in a company. After that then I will buy my dream car with the saved money. This plan is realistic if I have a job because I am saving enough money and have my driving licence. Long term USA and Export Manager: Later when I am finished with studying Business then I want to move USA in 2019. I can this do when I get my Master degree, have saved enough money and have enough experience in working in a company as well have learned enough languages. I want to move to Miami then and will look for vacancies for Export/Import manager. It is hard to find so quickly a home and I will handle with my friend who live there. So they find a nice house and then I will move. This plan is realistic if I my Master degree and enough save money. Also I can use the internet to look for vacancies and house. There are some couple friends who are living in Miami and they could help me, so this goal could be possible if everything goes right. Set up a lawyer company: After I have worked long time as an Export/import than I am thinking to set up my own company that will operates nationally. I will set up the lawyer business company with a couple partners. I can do all these point if I have really all the needed knowledge for business like skills. I will also prepare everything for my business like having a business plan and cash flow forecast with strategic planning. I am a creative person and I want to hire a lot of lawyers and work with them as partnership. This could give me advantage because it will become easier to set up the business and I can help people who are in trouble. I will be the leader and the lawyers are working for me as well for them self to get paid from the customers. This plan could be possible if all my goals above are going as planned. At the most skills I did gained at school for example working with Microsoft Words, Excel by following lessons in the class. Also we make all our assignment at MS Words that is how I gained this skill. Also I had learned the most languages at school by making homework and assessments in that language. In my other skills that are shown above (the most) is my own skill that I did not gained from someone. I did gained the presentation skills in the class when I had to give a presentation in a specific subject Pass 5 – Demonstrate transferrable business skills In this assignment I will describe in which areas I apply these skills and in what way. Team working: is very important when you work in an organization. When I work in a team I can learn different methods to finish the work. I gain this skill from the projects at school and also I am a social person, so it is easily to work with everyone. Also I gained this skill not only from myself but in the class when we have to make a presentation or project together. We are then with more than 2 people and have to make plans. We have to discuss and listen to each ours ideas and opinions and work together to finish our work. Patient: I am a little bit impatient person. I do not like when something takes so long and or wait for someone. I can get frustrated and stressed for example in the lesson when a teacher explains what we have to do, then I want to begin quick with working and not have to wait till everyone questions are answered. Or when I am waiting for someone and is too late for the appointment then I get really mad. I do not get this gained from my family but my impatiently occurs what I have said above and because of this I get impatient. Creativity: I am a very creative person even the teachers and friends say that. I do have always ideas and that brings to make something original and I do not have to think a lot about it and I work hard to make to make a nice result. With creativity I think I am a perfectionist because I will work hard till I get my done. I won in the primary school a lot of challenges that has to do with being creativity. I am born with this skill because when I was very young I could always make something creative e. g. for Santa-Clause. I did made a Fish made from a strong-dried balloon wit glue, newspaper and paint and also and with a stick like you catch a fish. Listening skill: I am a good listener because I listen to everyone when we have to discuss about a specific subject. I listen to people so if there is a problem so I can solve it or to help that person by listen carefully. In the class I do 2 things together like listen to the teacher and making my work at the same time. Only there is 1 problem when I have a listening test in the class I cannot concentrate because I am focusing on one thing. I gain this skill by from the teachers from the primary school. They always learned us when someone is talking that we have to shut our mouth and listen what we have to do in the class or what the homework is. So that we won’t ask the same questions that she already has answered. Also I gained this skill when I was working in a team that I have to listen to someone other ideas or discuss. Social skill I am a very social person; I can work with everyone easily. I am respectful to everyone and also polite. I like to help people very much when they have a problem like they have not finished their assignment than I let them show my work so they have an idea to finish the work before the deadline. Personally I don’t think that I have gained this skill from my family even they are social. I am mostly social person and in any cases and it goes easily without trying be social person. I think it is nature of me being a social person. Motivation: I think that I am very motivated person. I really want to finish this education successful. I do get 2 diploma’s for IBS and that what my short-term goal is. I am finishing all my assignments on time so I can get feedback on it so I can improve on my work. I gain this skill last year because I saw how important for me was when I heard that cannot go the level 4 MBO. It gave me a lot of motivation now and I realize that I have to work hard before I can become a business manager. I like also to come to school and make homework and cannot imagine my life without school and if I want something I will get it. Pass 5 – Demonstrate transferrable business skills Planning/organizing: I am not very in good in planning and organization. But at this time I am not behind the schedule and working forward. These skills are essential because if I want to achieve my goal- they help keep focusing on doing the right tasks. Now I am doing IBS, it is very important to organize and plan my work so I can finish on time. Later these skills could give me a benefit because I have the ability to manage and to work efficiency and reduce all the stress. I gained this skill from school because without planning and organizing I cannot finish my work and it is obligated and necessary. Also with I have learned planning and organizing when I am busy with a project in a team. Leadership: I don’t know if I have this skill because I do not place every time myself in the leadership position. I only do this when nobody wants to take it. I will take only the leadership when I am working in a group and want to make sure that everything is doing well. When I see that my group isn’t taking serious then I will feel responsible for the whole project and work hard to finish it. I can gain this skill only when I am working in a team. Or the teacher chose me as the leadership or if I do see that no one is doing something. I talk to them and say to them that their way of working not it is working and that they have to do on my way. I check everything before handing the project. Self-confident: I am not very confident person because sometimes I feel insecure when I have give presentation in front of a group people. I get then very nervous, my body shakes, speak to fast and don’t make an eye contact. Sometimes I hide my nerves by smiling and laughing. I did gain this low self confidence because some of my family where saying many times that I was too fat and I am believe that now because I am not critic to myself. Also by presentation, in the past people were saying that giving a presentation in front of a class really difficult. From that time I have a fear for giving presentation. Problem solving: I think I am a good problem solver because if there arise a problem. I am always the person who comes up with solutions. I am a good thinker and can make good ideas. Later this skill I would need definitely because a company has always to face with difficulties and problems. I gained this skill in the class and from family. My mother is also a good problem solver, she find for every kind a problem a solution. At school we have always to brainstorm for example by the Economic lesson. We had to find solutions about different companies who had a problem. Work alone: I am more likely to work on my own because I won’t be distracted by other people. I like to work independency because I can focus on my work and finish on time and it is the best way to learn. If I work with other person, the work is easily to finish because we have both ideas and done the work and I won’t learn anything. I also do like to work alone because when I am working with other people, I have then to listen what the team leader order us to do it and I like to do on my own way. I think that I did gain this skill from the irritating teamwork Stress Management: I can be very stressful when I am in an unwanted situation. I can deal with this if I stay calm down then I can manage my stress. I do all the time something to distract me like fitness or working on my assignment because if I sit down I would not do anything else than stressing. I think that I have to improve on this skill to become stress resistant. I did gain this skill being stress resistant by calming down when I am in an unwanted situation. I have also made a research on Google about how to reduce stress and try to follow. If I learn all these languages than I can do on HBO International Business Languages and when I am working I can work later in other countries. Also I had learned the most languages at school by making homework, assessments in that language and also with my friends and watching TV. Speaking Somalis I did learned that just at home talking with my mum and brother. Communication: To communicate is the most important thing in my life as well for everyone. It is necessary that I can communicate with other person because if I will not do that then problems could arise like misunderstanding. I think that good I am in communication because I can talk easily and clear with other person. I gain this skill when I went to grow up from a baby to a toddler. I have also learned to communicate when there are meetings or social network. At the class I have develop a lot with my communication because when I am at school I talk a lot and that makes for me easier every times to talk with someone and understand each other by non-verbal and verbal communication. Taking risks: I am very bad in taking risks, because I am afraid that things would go wrong or waist my invested money. I did once take a risk and that was by doing the same class in the high school and then I left school without high school certificate. But now I am doing the same level MBO as my class mates from the high school. I realized that taking risks advantages are because I was thinking it is impossible to do MBO level 4 and now I am doing it. I did took this skill a little bit because sometimes I am so scared that something won’t work out and I try to take a risks but this cause also too much stress. I gain this skill when something what I did is failed and I want really that it won’t fail, that is the moments when I take risks. M2 – Monitor and audit progress towards targets using appropriate success criteria Driving licence: I want to get my driving licence within a year by taking a course. I will take 3 times each week and each lesson will take 3 hours. I am also learning now the theory book everyday when I come from school. I practise each day and takes me a half hour. I will take the lesson on Monday, Tuesday and Friday after or before I have to go my school. I will pay for the whole packet which costs â‚ ¬1000,- because I will save â‚ ¬440 more money than when I pay every lesson â‚ ¬30,- . I want to take 48 lessons, after that to make the exam in 2011. I already know how to drive in a car so it is really possible to get my driving licence. This plan is realistic because after the 48 lessons, I can make the theory test and the exam within 5 months. I do not have now driving lesson but this timetable would be my the times I will take the lesson by looking at the green marks. I already made the first merit assignment and it will not be hard because if I spend enough hours on my homework, then I can finish on time. Every day I will spend 3 hours on doing my assignment in the library. I keep a diary with me so I can work towards my homework on time. This is how my diary looks like: [pic] HBO and University: I want to do in August 2013 years to begin with HBO International Business Language course, if I graduate for my IBS in June 2013. I want to get my propedeuse HBO in June 2014 so I can go to University to do Master Bedrijfskunde and follow only the college lesson 3 days (18 hours) a week. The HBO and Master course in the university will take together 5 years. I can achieve this goal if I reach the third year of IBS. Doing the trainee ship perfectly and finish my career plan and het enough grades. So I can do HBO. On the HBO I have to attend 5 full days, doing all my projects and assessments good. I have to do trainee ship (5 month) in other countries therefore I have to manage the French and Spanish very good. I will do subjects like statistics, mathematics and financial management very good. Also I have to get knowledge of culture and economy. Then after the first year I want to do my HBO bachelor on the university. I cannot keep now a diary but I am planning to work towards to meet this goal. Car: I want to have a car when I am doing HBO and University. Get my driving license. Have a job that is paid good Save money by money save big [pic] M3 – Asses ways of achieving the level and types of transferable business skills. Fonetisch lezen   I am going to describe how I will develop this missing skills and why I will develop this. Taking risks: I am very bad in taking risks. I will develop this skill by taking every time a risk. I can use the internet for steps to take risks. I will ask when myself question if I stuck in a solving problem or I want to see more growth in the invested business. For example what is keeping me from solving the problem etc. after that I have to brainstorm and look for alternative. The other step is to be optimistic because when believe in myself everything goes right. This is how I will develop this skill and looking information on the internet, buy a book and make a handling irrational beliefs model in tools for personal growth. I want to develop this skill because this way is to succeed in a person live. Also is important that I have to undertake a huge amount of risk when I am starting my own business. If the risk I took become successful than I will be happy and the company will growth and if not than I could be wiser to do next time with better techniques. I can explain an evidence that could show the development of the lacking skill by invest my saved money in a brand new business that is set up by a friend of my. They are producing new kind a product and want to see if it will become popular in the Netherland. I am taking the risk by put all my saving money in that business and wait what will happen in the near future. Stress management: I can be very stressful when I am in an unwanted situation. I can deal with this if I stay calm down then I can manage my stress. I am to all the time something to distract me like fitness or working on my assignment because if I sit down I would not do anything else than stressing. I can blow it off by deep breathing and then I feel my stress reduced. I can do this 2-4 deep breathes several times a day, so that I become more relaxed. Also when I have stress and I want to manage that I take progressive relaxation. Also using a stress ball can keep me out stressed. Manage my stress is important for later because if I would stress all the time. I cannot make the right decision, work quickly and have done my work. When I am working later in a business I want to control my emotions. This skill could help me later that I am calm in every situation bad or not and I can work efficiently. I can explain evidence that could show the development of the lacking skill by making my assignment for the first date on that day. I will then begin with the assignment a couple hours before the first date what I am doing now. I am just making now my assignment at 10 o’clock and I have to give this assignment later on this day at 15:00 o’clock. I am doing relaxed my homework without thinking all the time ‘oh no I cannot finish this on time’. M3 – Asses ways of achieving the level and types of transferable business skills. Fonetisch lezen Self-confidence: I am not very confident person because sometimes I feel insecure when I have give presentation in front of a group people. I get then very nervous, my body shakes, speak to fast and don’t make an eye contact. In this case I am going to laugh when I try to hide my nervous. I can develop this skill by doing more things like fitness so I feel secure about my body. Eating health food and relax and don’t think to critic about myself. Self confidence is important because if I come in a room I can change all the attitudes everyone in that room. A manager must have self confidence because that attracts more friends, consumers but commands respect too. Self confidence is the basis of someone’s live. Lacking of self confidence will slow down the steps and prevent someone from taking initiative. I can explain evidence that could show the development of the lacking skill by giving a presentation to a whole group of people that are enthusiastic to listen to my. The more I give presentation to person, the more my fear will be gone in develop more confidence. Patient: I am a little bit impatient person. I do not like when something takes so long and it annoys me. I can get frustrated and stressed for example if I am waiting for someone and it takes too long. I can gain this skill by trying every time to calm down and take yoga will help me I think. Also when I want to get quickly and cannot wait for it. To think about something else like reading a newspaper or listen to music and then the time will go quicker. I will just distract myself like get a piece of paper and write down when I feel rushed and the sense of impatience. Every time when I feel the sense of impatience occurs to write down for couple weeks. I want to develop this skill because later when I am working in a business or have a child, I need to be patient. If I do not develop this skill than I could be really quick annoyed or being mad. Being patient helps me preventing having stressed and getting high pressure. I can explain evidence that could show the development of the lacking skill by make a bet and I win the challenge and the price is to win a lot of money. By this I cannot wait directly to win and get the money. I will try then to say to that person just give me that money when you have enough money and not now. I show in this case patiently. 1. zelfstandig naamwoord 1. reach 2. scope 3. grasp 4. compass 5. shot
